Hand-made copper jewelry box with ornate Arts & Crafts silver decoration. The lid inset with 3 green turquoise.

We have owned several of these boxes and seen a few more. All seem to have differences in the detail of the strapwork or clasp. This is the largest version we have found.

A similar example was exhibited at the The Annual Exhibition of the Birmingham Society of Artists, 1901

Marks Silver cannot be hallmarked if it is attached to a base metal, like copper. It is then consider 'mixed metal'.
Condition

There is a small repair to one leg and a tiny split just above that repair. This split seems to be a stress point. Please check our archive for a silver example of this design with a split in almost the same place.

 

One of the turquoises is cracked.
