Very rare silver cigarette box, or tea caddy, the finial inset with red stone. Designed by one of the best silversmiths of his time, "Harry" was one of the few artists that extended his designing from the Arts & Crafts style and the Art Deco with such great skill. English Art Deco silver is always a little restrained, always not quite as strong as French , or American, but HG Murphy and Charles Boyton really embraced the style.

An identical box is in the collection of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.

This design was exhibited at the British Art in Industry Exhibition at the Royal Academy, London, in 1935.
